| The Sheryl and Tom Duet is a fun based pop rock band formed in the north suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Singing together since they met in 1981, they began playing 50’s and 60’s cover music for the public in 1998. Fresh original music soon followed and their set list has enough variety of clean music to suit all age groups.
In July 2008, they were featured at Sam Ash Music Store in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. In November 2008, they were warmly received at The Elbo Room Chicago, Illinois and have been invited back for a return performance on April 30, 2009.
Sheryl and Tom play original and cover music as a duet, or with full band, including friends on bass, keys, and/or drums, at festivals, car shows, corporate events, nightclubs, fundraisers and care homes.
“Care homes are the most rewarding. It’s music therapy. Music can improve your memory, help you manage stress, alleviate pain and promote rehabilitation. It improves the quality of life for everyone in the building, not just the residents. I believe that a dose of vitamin jam is good for the soul!” Sheryl said with a smile.
Influenced by great harmony duets like the Everly Brothers and more currently the Bodeans, Sheryl’s Midwest writing style provides a sweet harmony pop song with simple but meaningful lyrics and a catchy hook. Her writing inspirations come from being together, the experience of life in Chicago, and being near Lake Michigan. Tom’s Chicago rock guitar style was natural for musical collaboration and harmonic craftsmanship. Together they set a fresh contemporary standard for close two-part harmonies infused and influenced by early rock and roll.

Born in Chicago, Sheryl is a wide range vocalist. She sings both lead and back up and also plays light percussion. Influenced by the energy of the city, she writes most of the original music and lyrics for the band. A huge fan of the perfect two and a half minute pop song, her music often times has a wholesome 1950’s flair. She is an animated performer who claims that, “It’s music therapy, a dose of vitamin jam is good for the soul.”
Born in the North suburbs, Tom is a dynamic performer and musician. Influenced by Blues and Rock and Roll, he melds the sound of each through his guitar playing and singing. Performing brings the compositions to life and allows him to share his musical vision. His philosophy is, “If it sounds good, play that!”
From the heart of Chicago Ben is a diverse keyboard player whose style easily slips from jazz, swing, pop, and rockabilly. He began studying bass and slide guitar at the Old Town School of Folk Music at the age of 11. He learned keyboard by looking over the shoulder of other musicians. His "dirty piano" energy feeds the band. He believes, "Live Music is Best." |
